End to End action but Tottenham fail to hold on in crucial clash: Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 AS Roma
Lineups: Tottenham Hotspur XI: Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Davies, Gray; Sarr, Bentancur, Kulusevski; Johnson, Solanke, Son ©
AS Roma XI: Svilar; Ndicka, Hummels, Mancini; Angelino, Paredes, Koné, Celik; El Shaarawy, Dybala; Dovbyk.
SONNY SENDS SVILAR THE WRONG WAY INSIDE 5 MINUTES:
The Tottenham support protested against Mats Hummels ruthless drag back on Pape Matar Sarr and eventually the Swedish man in the middle, and his VAR team gave in after a lengthy check. Solanke handed Son the chance to make the headlines and seal a lead early on and that is precisely what he did. Svilar dives to the right and Son incisively slices it into the left and we go off celebrating.

EVAN ELECTRIFIES ROMA HOPES:
Useless foul to give away, leaves Dybala hovering over it with a flicker of hope. Paulo whips in a ball that even Maradona would be proud of, leaving it with many opportunities and one rised higher than all. Evan NDicka flys above our defence and flicks one above Forster and Roma are level after 20 minutes.
ROMA DENIED SNAP COMEBACK AGAINST STUNNED SPURS SIDE:
It was instantaneous, as soon as NDicka scored, time stood still, Roma raced back up the pitch and eventually stunned the experienced Forster. As the away AS Roma fans roared in came the daunting VAR check which would disallow El Shaarawy. Will this give Tottenham the reality check they require?
JOHNSON JOLTS SPURS IN FRONT AGAIN:
A blistering pass down the left to Dejan, then that iconic pass through to Brennan Johnson and the Welshman reignites the Tottenham hope and deafens the rampant Roma support who have been electric all game. A euphoric counter attack left with a blissful moment to remember, great counter attack from the team and we lead again.
ATMOSPHERE ELECTRIC AS WE LEAD OUT OF FORM ROMA AT HALF TIME
End to end game, any team could win it at this point but Spurs have had just that little extra boost as Johnson parried in the equaliser to put us in front. Svilar has proved to be a real challenge for us whilst El Shaarawy and Dybala are looking to be true and dangerous threats going into this second half, hopefully we push forward and squeeze out this win to put us in a safe place for guaranteed knockout qualification.
ROMA LEVELLING GOAL HOPES RIPPED OUT AS GLENN NYBERG SIGNALS FOR OFFSIDE
Like he has done in these initial first moments of the second half, Artem Dovbyk drifts past the Tottenham defence after a solid through pass from Matias Soulé, squaring the ball for former Monchengladbach midfielder to slice it in, he will do so but not legally. The referee, Glenn Nyberg has no doubt in his mind that Koné is offside and the goal will not stand and Spurs’ blushes have been spared due to a late Radu Dragusin tackle which played Koné offside.

HE IS RIGHT BACK INTO THE ACTION!… OR IS HE?
Former RB Leipzig and Manchester City man, Angelino slices a magnificent ball all the way to Matias Soulé who prepares to unleash another attacking masterclass and he will. Once again it’s that pass to Artem Dovbyk which leaves the Spurs side stuttering. He juggles through the defence and the ball bounces off of Forster and into the back of the net. Artem is played offside by Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin, Dovbyk is ruled out of another goal inclusion!
HIGH RISK HIGH REWARD FOR THE GERMAN DEFENDER
Corner played in by Roma, and the ball bounces around and eventually lands for their main man, their captain, Gianluca Mancini who unleashes a missile towards goal to test the 36 year old Forster. Same situation, ball played in juggles around and this time it isn’t Gianluca on the end of it but it is the infamous intimidating rock in the back who lunges forward in the dying embers, Mats Hummels. The ball trickled through the legs of Dominic Solanke and to the reliable right foot of Mats Hummels, it was a long time coming but finally Roma had the levelling goal and a point to bring home to the Italian capital.
